Chattanooga's Nick Russell Named As Student Representative To The Tennessee Board Of Regents

Chattanoogan Nick Russell has been appointed to the Tennessee Board of Regents by Governor Bill Haslam to serve as the Student Regent for 2015-2016.  Mr. Russell is an honors student at Tennessee Tech University majoring in mechanical engineering.

A member of Tech’s Autonomous Robotics Club, he designed and modeled components for national robotics competition.  He was the freshman representative for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers at Tech working on robotics challenges including quad-copter project to compete at the Student Professional Development Conference.  Mr. Russell was the senator from the College of Engineering in the Student Government Association and was one of the chosen nine to represent Tennessee Tech at Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature. 

He is a National Merit Commended Scholar, recipient of the Hudy C. Hewitt, Jr., Mechanical Engineering Scholarship,  the Matteson-Hudson Engineering Scholarship, the MaryEllen Locher Foundation Scholarship and the Tennessee Academic Merit Supplement Scholarship. 

Mr. Russell and his wife, Faith, reside in Chattanooga and have one daughter.

He is a graduate of Chattanooga Christian School.

He is the son of Chief Magistrate Randy Russell and Mrs. Russell.
