Frankie Franklin, 83, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at Skyland Care Center in Sylva, NC.
Mrs. Franklin was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Franklin; son, Mark Franklin; grandson, Clint Franklin; parents, Max and Viola Knight; and brothers, Dick, Robert, and Terry Knight.
She was a former member of First Methodist Church of Dalton and First Baptist Church of Dalton.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Myra and Tom Sawyer of Glenville, NC., Marsha Whitener of Dalton, and Miriam and Jim Wink of Dalton; son and daughter-in-law, Mitch and Connie Franklin of Cumming, GA; sisters, Faye Samples of Leeds, AL and Peggy Flippo of Guin, AL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Brady and Diane Knight of Ft. Deposit, AL, Sara Knight of Grove Hill, AL and Alan and Mary Ann Knight of North Port, AL; brothers-in-law and spouses, Jerry and Brenda Franklin of Oxford, MS and Larry and Rebecca Franklin of Sulligent, AL; father of grandchildren, Sparky Whitener; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Franklin will be held Sunday, Oct. 4 at 4:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Kanipe officiating. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:30 until 4:30 on Sunday, Oct. 4.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the Women’s Enrichment Center, 109 W. Gordon Street, Dalton, GA 30720.
