CROSSVILLE, Tenn. – David Whiteside rushed 29 times for 173 yards for East Hamilton on Friday night in its Region 3-4A football showdown with unbeaten Stone Memorial.
The Hurricanes (6-4, 4-2) needed a lot more offense.
Stone Memorial (10-0, 6-0) got 123 yards rushing and two 1-yard touchdowns from Cody Wyllins and the Panthers defeated East Hamilton, 14-7.
The loss dropped the Hurricanes to the region’s No.
3 seed and they will travel to Franklin, Tenn., next Friday to take on Page in the first round of the TSSAA state playoffs. The kickoff is set for 7 p.m. local time.
Stone Memorial will be at home in the opening round against Giles County (3-7), the No. 4 squad from Region 4-4A next week.
Quarterback Nick Woods, who completed only 6-of-16 passes for 91 yards, scored the Hurricanes’ lone touchdown, a 1-yard scamper with 4:41 left in the third quarter.
Defensively, Daniel Wallace and Frankie Campo each had seven tackles for the Hurricanes. Campo also intercepted Stone Memorial Austin Helton, who completed 2-of-4 passes for 37 yards.
