Wylie James Kendall, 84, of Dalton, Georgia, died on Sunday, October 4, 2015.
He was born November 21, 1931. Wylie Kendall was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. Utmost, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family more than anything and was a doting Papaw.
A special thanks to Amelia, alias Little Bit, a family cat. He nursed her from a kitten, and talked about how much he loved her. He said, “I never thought I would love a cat, but I loved Little Bit." She gave him love and joy every day. When not spending time in his lap, she was following him around, talking to him, helping him with dishes, etc. He loved her, and she loved him back.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Kendall; his parents, H.W. and Ina Kendall; sister and brother-in-law, Linda Jane and Alvin Herbel; sister, Nema Kendall; brother, Kenneth Kendall; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Felder and Ila Woody.
He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Kendall; grandchildren, Victoria Kendall and Nicholas Kendall all of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Ida Kendall of Summerville; special nephew and wife, Larry and Ann Kendall of Dalton; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Millie and Larry Shaw of California.
