I work in the North Shore area. North Market Street looks like children's hopscotch markings all the way from the bridge up to the light at Mississippi. You need a trained dog to figure out all the markings.
Traffic was already crawling since the addition of townhomes, apartments and a busy Publix in the area. Really, you have to stop and study it or just follow the car ahead of you and hope they know what they're doing.
It gets real tricky at the top of the hill by the old Northside Jr High, you have to cross lanes under the light at Mississippi to get over in the right lane that veers off Old Dallas Road and hope someone doesn't jump up that little goat trail road into your path.
There is no way in Hades to make a left turn onto North Market, either way, without first working your way to a light. To get out of my parking lot, I have to turn right towards the bridge, then sit in the turn lane at the post office, cut through the post office lot to Woodland, then turn left down Woodland and enter North Market somewhere north of the Publix. You need to start a few minutes early.

Sue , there was a bike jam on North Market Street today. Never seen so many bikers in my life. Some were coming home from work in their spiked heels while others were carrying 20 bags of groceries. Those bike lanes are a good progressive investment in our future, especially on rainy days. After all it was a federal grant and didn’t cost the taxpayers anything.
Broad Street really needs bike lanes so people can get home from work. Now that the freeway is backed up during rush hour and cars are diverting at the Browns Ferry exit to Cummings Highway and Broad Street daily, we certainly need more bike lanes.
Somebody do the math, not common core, real math.
