Judge Curtis Collier set the sentence after finding Shannon Ferguson to be an Armed Career Criminal.

Prosecutor Michael Porter said Ferguson has five convictions for aggravated burglary and three for burglary.

County detectives looking to serve warrants on Ferguson on Nov. 13, 2013, found him backing his pickup truck out of his residence on Wooten Road.

A detective saw a .380 caliber round on the backseat of the police vehicle beside where Ferguson was placed. As the defendant stepped out of the car, another .380 round fell to the ground. The

defendant was searched and three more rounds were found in his pocket and another three rounds were found on the seat.

The defendant also had 0.35 grams of ice methamphetamine in his pocket.

Deputies found a Grendel P-10 handgun in a bag next to where the defendant was sitting in the truck. The weapon was cleared. Another round was in the chamber and five more were in the magazine. All the recovered rounds matched.

Due to his prior convictions, Ferguson was not suppose to have guns or ammunition with him.
