Dalton State's Men’s Cross Country Finishes 3rd In Charlotte

Charlotte, NC – The No. 21 Dalton State men’s cross country team finished third in the Royals Cross Country Challenge at McAlpine Creek Park.

Spencer Head (24:41.6) finished second to Sam Akin of Lewis-Clark State of Lewiston, ID. Akin finished the 8K in 24:11.4. The Warriors had three of the first six runners to take the meet with 72 points and average time of 25:17.20

Olivet Nazarene University of Illinois was second with 128 points and an average time of 25:51.16.

Dalton State’s average time of 25:47.16 was better than the Tigers, but the Roadrunners finished three points out of second place (131).

Nearby Bryan – TN and Tennessee Wesleyan were 16th and 17th in the Royals Challenge. Auburn Montgomery from the SSAC finished 20th in the 24 team meet.

Dalton State had nine runners competing in Charlotte. Paul Patterson was 11th at 25:16.9. Paul Schupp finished 31st with a time of 26:04.6.  Cole Thornton (31st-26:24.7), Parker Cook (47th-26:27.8), Dylan Smith (57th-26:33.3), Saddoth Fraire (109th-27:44.8) DaCosta Smith (119th-27:56.5) and Lane Bramblett (144th-29:04.2) also made the trip.

McAlpine Creek Park will be the site of the NAIA National Meet in November. Dalton State Cross Country Teams will compete October 24th in the ASICS Sand Shark Invitational hosted by USC Beaufort in Hardeeville, SC.
