Police have charged 18-year-old Windell Lamont Morgan with carrying out an aggravated robbery on the parking lot of the Publix on Hixson Pike.

Patrick Nelson said he arranged to meet another person between 11 p.m. and midnight last Monday.

He said he planned to retrieve his cell phone charger and purchase a small amount of marijuana.

He said when he arrived at the parking lot a black male got into the rear seat of his vehicle. He said the man displayed a silver handgun and demanded money.

He said he told the gunman he did not have any money. He said the man got out of the car, then got into the front passenger side. He said the man began going through his pockets.

He said when the gunman found that he had $500 on him that he struck him in the right side of the cheek, causing a small laceration.

Nelson said he recognized the gunman because they had gone to school together.

He said they both got out of the vehicle at the same time and he asked, "Windell. Are you gonna do me like this?"

He said the gunman replied, "Don't think I won't shoot you."

Police said they were able to determine that the suspect's name was Windell Morgan, and that Nelson made a positive ID of him.

Morgan, of 1801 Arlington Ave., is being held on $50,000 bond.
