DAR Members Honor Veterans At VFW Post 3679

Members of the Chief John Ross chapter of the DAR attended the monthly breakfast at the VFW Post 3679 in Fort Oglethorpe on Saturday.  

The chapter passed out Vietnam War 50th anniversary buttons, bumper stickers and thank you cards to all the veterans and shared U.S. flags from the Lee Highway shooting memorial site.  

Three certificates were presented to distinguished WWII veterans.

Otis Hickman served in WWII, Korea and two tours in Vietnam. Alan Crawford flew 35 missions over Germany during WWII, and served in the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover. Jesse James Henderson joined the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII when the corps was segregated by race, fought in the Pacific Island-Hopping Campaign and was recently honored with the Presidential Gold Medal.
