Larry Zehnder Named Interim Executive Director Of Reflection Riding Arboretum And Nature Center

Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center announced that Larry Zehnder is its incoming interim executive director.

Mr. Zehnder was formerly director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Chattanooga. He has a B.S. in Recreation and Park Administration from Clemson University with a minor in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design. He is also an NRPA Certified Professional in Tennessee, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Mr. Zehnder is a Parks and Recreation specialist with over 30 years of progressive experience in the fields of parks and recreation, including serving in top administrative positions with city governments and various positions throughout the parks and recreation profession including recreation programs, facilities management, and maintenance operations. He recently served as Southeast Regional executive director of the National Recreation and Parks Association.

Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center is a cultural landscape park, Level IV certified arboretum, and historical landmark. Reflection Riding is at the foot of Lookout Mountain, 10 minutes from downtown Chattanooga and offers 300 plus acres of native plants, trees and shrubs.

Members and visitors go to run, walk and hike the trails of the property, enjoy the three-mile driving loop by automobile, as well as canoe on historic Lookout Creek.

Officials said, "We operate a nature center with wild animals that have been injured and rehabilitated but cannot survive in the wild. Our Nature Center is one of 44 facilities nationwide selected to raise and breed the endangered Red Wolf. Reflection Riding also provides environmental education classes and summer camps to elementary school children in the greater Chattanooga area as well as North Alabama and North Georgia. We offer rental venues for weddings, birthday, parties and corporate gatherings, including our Discovery Forest Treehouse and historic Humphreys House."
