Lookout Mountain, Ga., City Manager Brad Haven said Thursday night that he is working with Dwight Montague, Lookout Mountain, Tn., town consultant, to develop a social media communication account for the entire mountain using the media outlet Next Door.

Mr. Haven said this will allow residents to make announcements and postings as well as allowing the cities' managers to communicate vital information in the case of road closures or inclement weather.

He said that this form of communication is free and, when more information is complete, he will let residents know how to access it.

Mr.
Haven said leaf pickup continues with two trucks running most days of the week. He said the town had not received nearly as many sewer service calls in the past month.  He also said he will be working on the Environmental Protection Department's reports for the city in the coming weeks.

Councilman David Bennett announced that the first annual Christmas tree lighting and parade will take place on Monday, Nov. 30, from 6:30-8:00.  The police and fire departments will collect toys and non-perishable food items along the parade route and there will be a drop box at city hall.

Police Chief Todd Gann told the council that the new police vehicle and 4-wheel drive Chevrolet Tahoe has arrived and will soon be in use.  He also reported no burglaries during the last month.

Jimmy Campbell recommended that the council approve revising all the city zoning ordinances. He introduced a new working zoning map that will replace the city’s current map that was created in October of 1985.  The council approved rewriting the zoning ordinances. The council will hold a public hearing to discuss this in December.  A final date has not been decided.

The next regular city council meeting will take place Thursday, Dec. 17.
