Mary Kathleen Scoggins Harris, 87, of Chattanooga, died Tuesday, November 17, 2015 in a Chattanooga Health Care facility.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Chattanooga, born to the late Mary Schabelle Scoggins and Ernest Scoggins; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Louin Harris; her sisters, Alma Lee Cross and Elizabeth “Aunt Sissy” Bailey; and her brother, Oscar Scoggins.
She was a former employee of DuPont with more than 15 years of service. She also served as a beautician for many years. She enjoyed working in her yard and along with her husband, they would mow the City Church of God (Lee Highway Church of God) grounds for many years. Mrs. Harris was known for her servant’s heart and would enjoy helping anyone who had a need. She was a member of the East Chattanooga Church of God.
Survivors include her son, Reverend Cy Harris and his wife Cindy of Cleveland; grandchildren; Mitchell Harris and his wife Mandi of Flowery Branch, GA, Sarah McCloud and her husband Garren of Nashville and Kayla Harris of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Sunday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m. at the East Chattanooga Church of God with Pastor Fred Smith and Reverend Cy Harris officiating. Interment will follow on Monday, Nov. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. at the East Chattanooga Church of God.
