Minnie Skates
Minnie Lucille Skates, 94, a life long resident of Hixson, died on Saturday, November 21, 2015.
She was a member of Sequoyah Baptist Tabernacle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lula Belle Gamblin; daughter, Linda Carol (Skates) Elliott; brothers, Leonard, Chaney, James and Laxton Gamblin; sister, Grace Zigler and grandson, Richard Shannon.
Survivors include her sister, Peggy (Wilburn) Hardyman of Soddy Daisy sons, John "Ronnie" Skates of Bellevue, Ohio and Leroy (Carolyn) Skates of Soddy Daisy; daughter, Joyce (Ron) Shannon of Hixson; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two step-grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend David Stancil and Reverend Wilburn Hardyman officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, and from 1 p.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
