Founder Of Yerbey Concrete Construction Was World War II Veteran

B. H. Yerbey, Jr., 87, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, November 23, 2015.  

He was born on Jan. 29, 1928, in Florence, Al. to the late Reverend Burrell Henry and Toy Fulmer Yerbey. 

He was a United States Navy veteran at the conclusion of World War II. 

He was the founder of Yerbey Concrete Construction. 

Mr. Yerbey was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. He supported many charities and church work in the Chattanooga area.

He was a former board member at Bethel Bible Village where he was active in the construction of the campus.  He was a charter contributor to Volunteers in Medicine. He built WMBW’s studio and he and his wife, Phyllis, served on their Christian Radio Fellowship Board. Mr. Yerbey was also instrumental in completing building projects on the Precept Ministries campus. 

His wife, Phyllis Kilgore Yerbey and sister, Martha Faye Yerbey preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda (Paul) Wright; son, Gary (Darlene) Yerbey; three grandchildren, Lindsey Blake Yerbey, Lacey Brooke (Seth) Williams and Logan Brendale Yerbey; great-grandson, “Little B. H.” Brock Henry Williams; brothers, Bill W. (Sue) Yerbey and Robert F. (Barbara) Yerbey, Sr.; sister, Mary Katherine Gibson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 3-6 p.m. at Brainerd Baptist Church, 300 Brookfield Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37411. 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 29, at 3 p.m. at Brainerd Baptist Church with Reverend George Clark and Reverend John Andrus officiating. Burial will be on Monday, Nov. 30, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Active pallbearers will be Johnny Hickman, Mark Settles, Jimmy Eller, Michael Daniel, Logan Yerbey, and Seth Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class of Brainerd Baptist Church.
