Croson, Ruth Potter

Ruth Potter Croson, 100, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, November 24, 2015.

Mrs. Croson was born in Viola, Tn. on Jan. 24, 1915, the daughter of the late Enoch and Ida Prater. She was a homemaker and a member of Ridgedale Church of Christ. Her life was one of humble service to her God, her family, and to both friend and stranger.

Mrs. Croson was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Henry H. Potter, and her husband of 25 years, Theodore (Ted) Croson.

Survivors include her daughters, Marie Potter Byers (James), Nancy Potter Smith, Lonna Potter Williams (Clark), and son, Gilbert Potter (Suzanne); grandchildren Tracy Byers, Valerie Smith Fox, Robyn Smith Mayberry, Gabe Potter, Daniel J. Potter, Margaret Potter Smith, Charley Potter and Blan Williams; and six great-grandchildren. In her extended family are Betty Lewis (Owen), Mary Parrish (Charles), Tim Croson (Chris), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be Saturday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m in the Advantage Chapel with visitation one hour before.

Interment will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015.
