As one walks about the grounds of Lee University’s campus this week, students and faculty alike are greeted by the sunshiny expanse of this year’s Art Installation project.
The project is a collaborative idea between Alumni Relations and the Lee University Art Department. The purpose of the installation is to draw attention to Alumni appreciation week leading up to Homecoming.
This will be the third year of the Art Installation. The first year, the installation was a spray of colorful kites and brightly hung yarn, last year it comprised a cheerful display of boxes, and this year, the piece consists of dozens of yellow umbrellas. These umbrellas are meant to represent the coverings of alumni who are now helping to provide support and shelter to current and upcoming students.
“We want students to know that alums play an important part in their time here at Lee,” said Ms. Cawood, director of Alumni Relations. “Alumni donations cover a large gap in Lee expenses, which enables us to make Lee what it is, and we want to celebrate that.”
