DAR Honors Native Americans For Service In Vietnam Era

  • Friday, November 6, 2015

The Nancy Ward Chapter of the DAR presented certificates of appreciation to Native Americans for military personnel that were active in the Vietnam era at the Red Clay Native American Pow Wow. Nancy Henderson of the Nancy Ward Chapter and Teresa Rimer, state chairman of Project Patriot, thanked them for their service and sacrifices.

The DAR has participated in the Pow Wow for four years. Ladies from each chapter were present to hand out certificates to those who were not in the circle and to share information about DAR and the Native American sites that it preserves.  Chapters bought water and popcorn, provided by Wynsong 10 theater.

Chapters that were represented through people and supplies were Nancy Ward, Judge David Campbell, Moccasin Bend, Chickamauga, Chief John Ross and Avery Trace.

Special events will take place throughout the month of November, recognizing the heritage of the Native American.
