A large pothole at 600 N. Holtzclaw Ave. caused problems for multiple drivers on Tuesday morning.
It appeared that a water main leak caused the damage.
Officials quickly barricaded one lane against the curb.
One motorist caught up in the quagmire said, "The damage was not light to vehicles which hit the pothole on Holtzclaw today during the morning 8 a.m. rush hour. In addition to other problems, there were eight vehicles which limped to the gas station on the corner of 3rd and Holtzclaw and also were able to pull into the new Wendy’s parking lot.
"It took two policeman over an hour to write up all our accident reports. A local tire store sent two service trucks and three employees to the scene. They braved the weather and changed tires for the other damaged vehicles.
"One pickup pulling a trailer had three tires flattened. Another car had two tires damaged. The other cars, including mine, had damage to their vehicles front end and front tire and/or rim. A tow truck was eventually called for one vehicle."
