The body of a 59-year-old man was found at Chickamauga Park just after noon on Saturday.
Park officials said Duane L. Hollenbeck had been dead less than 24 hours.
He had been reported missing by a neighbor.
Mr. Hollenbeck is originally from New York.
He had a cut on his head, but the exact cause of death was to be determined by an autopsy.
The body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Atlanta.
