The Covenant women's basketball team suffered from a cold shooting night as they fell 75-51 at Berry inside the Cage Center on Wednesday evening.
Aleigha Williams led the way with 12 points for Covenant (1-4), which has lost four straight since defeating Berry in the season opener on Nov. 13. Williams was 5-of-10 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers.
Rachel Price added eight points and eight rebounds, while Joanna Smith also tallied eight points with six boards.
Berry (4-3) was led by the inside presence of Emma Cook and Megan Casey as the tandem had 14 points apiece in the victory.
Cook added nine rebounds, while Casey recorded seven. Peyton Howell and Imani Smith added eight points apiece. Rosie Lynch contributed seven points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
Covenant connected on 26.7 percent (16-of-60) from the field. The Scots made 14-of-20 from the free throw line. The host Vikings made 45.3 percent (29-of-64) for the game and held a 51-35 rebounding edge.
Despite a low shooting percentage, Covenant stayed close throughout the first half. A Kaley Hallmark 3-pointer gave the Scots an 11-10 lead late in the first quarter before a late Berry field goal gave the Vikings a 12-11 edge entering the second period. Berry led by seven late in the second, but a pair of Grace Potter free throws drew Covenant to within 31-26 at the half.
Berry opened the third quarter by going on a 13-2 run to extend the lead to 44-28 and held that lead throughout.
