Ooltewah Developer Told To Meet With The Community

  • Tuesday, February 10, 2015

A developer planning a project with both single-family homes and townhomes along Ooltewah-Ringgold Road was advised Monday afternoon to meet with the community.

Rick Harris of Big Whiskey Land and Cattle and Big Whiskey Homebuilders said planning staff had been so high on the project that he thought the neighbors would be pleased.

But Chairman Ethan Collier advised him that if he did not meet with the community prior to it going before the County Commission "it will be a colossal mistake."

Don Moon, another developer on the Planning Commission gave the same advice as did County Commissioner Sabrena Turner.

Mr. Haris, afterward, said he would heed the counsel.

He said the project on just over 14 acres would include 26 single-family homes along with nine townhomes and will have curving streets and roundabouts. There will be several acres of common areas.

A clubhouse with swimming pool is proposed to be located at the front of the development behind the existing home at 2613 Ooltewah-Ringgold Road.

Two access points to the development are proposed at Ooltewah-RinggoldRoad.

Proposed total density is approximately 2.4 dwelling units per acre.
