Dollar Store Approved At Shallowford Road West Of Mae Dell Road

  • Tuesday, February 10, 2015

Despite some opposition from neighbors, the City Council on Tuesday voted in favor of a new Dollar General on Shallowford Road west of Mae Dell Road.

Joe Proctor of the Broadway Group is planning the 9,000-square-foot retail store.

The 1.4-acre site currently has one vacant lot and a small house on a second lot.

The staff of the Regional Planning Agency recommended that the Planning Commission deny the rezoning, saying that section should remain residential. However, the Planning Commission recommended approval.

Georgia Eastman, who has headed her neighborhood association for 19 years, said there was another Dollar General a mile away on Lee Highway.
