Johnny Maddox, Jr.,
The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Johnny Maddox, Jr., 19, for the Jan. 15 armed robbery that occurred at the Dollar General Store at 3441 Corporate Drive.
At approximately 10 p.m., a white male subject entered the store wearing a red mask over his face. The suspect had a pistol in his hand. He demanded the clerk open the cash register and give him the money. Upon obtaining around $200 in cash the suspect fled back out the door.
Deputy David Headrick developed information on Tuesday, indicating Johnny Maddox Jr.
was the suspect who committed the robbery. On Wednesday, a search warrant was executed at a relative’s residence where he had been staying on Carol Joyce Drive. Officers were able to locate the “fake” pistol he used in the armed robbery. The mask used in the robbery was located on Cross Plains Blvd where it had been discarded on the side of the road.
Maddox was taken into custody at the time the search warrant was executed. At this time investigators believe Maddox acted alone in the robbery. He has been charged with armed robbery and is being detained in the Whitfield County Jail.
