Four community college presidents along with their executive leadership team members participated in the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) High Performance Team training, Jan. 18-21, in Washington, DC.
The AACC High Performance Team (HPT) training, funded by the Lumina Foundation, has been established to assist community college leadership teams with moving into high performance mode or can be used as a way to sustain high performance. The program is a four-day focused training that progresses from individual team assessments to managing the team's performance to implementing change management and assessing institutional health. As part of the training, each team receives a coach to facilitate conversations that take place throughout the four-day program.
“The four college teams are led by very accomplished CEOs. We appreciated them taking time away from their college campuses to engage in courageous conversations and participate in activities designed to sustain high performance of their leadership teams,” said AACC President and CEO Walter G. Bumphus. “We will monitor team progress toward the goals that they have identified as a result of the training, and we are optimistic that they will achieve them.”
The four teams that participated in the January training include Cleveland State Community College (TN), College of Micronesia-FSM (Pohnpei), Mott Community College (MI), and Seminole State College (OK).
“We are proud to be selected for this outstanding opportunity,” stated Dr. Bill Seymour, Cleveland State President. “The training we received will help our leadership team function at a much higher level which will allow us to implement our strategic plan more effectively.”
