Nickels For Nepal and Gamma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota are hosting a benefit Pancake Breakfast at Applebee’s Northgate on Saturday from 7:30-9:30 a.m. This benefit will help provide the children in the remote Mijar Village in Nepal with sanitation and running water at their school.
“We are close to reaching our goal of $3,000 to help the children in the Mijar Village with sanitation and running water,” stated Chris Hockert, chairman of the Board of Nickels For Nepal who has visited the remote village school and other schools in Nepal at her own expense.
The pancake breakfast fundraiser at Applebee’s Northgate Mall on Saturday will be hosted by the professional organization of educators of the Gamma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota. Tickets are $7 each and they can be obtained at the door or online at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/pancake-breakfast-tickets-13949099131
“It is unbelievable that there are some children in Nepal who cannot attend school due to the lack of a school uniform because their parents cannot afford to pay for them but Nickels For Nepal has been able to obtain complete uniforms including shoes delivered to the remote village for $20 each and I am proud to support the school children of the Mijar Village,” said Cathy Norton of Kappa Kappa Iota.
Nickels For Nepal, a 501c3 non-profit organization, working in partnership with the Gamma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota, a professional organization of educators, has been supporting the children in the remote Mijar Village of Nepal with school supplies, teacher resource materials, scholarships for two students from the village school to attend Kavya School in Kathmandu to learn English, and school uniforms since 2009. The remote Mijar village school has no electricity, running water, or sanitation.
