Chattanooga-Based McCormick And Company Joins CORFAC International

  • Monday, February 16, 2015

CORFAC International President Scott Savacool, CCIM, SIOR, announced that Chattanooga-based McCormick & Company Commercial Real Estate has joined CORFAC International as an affiliated company serving southeast Tennessee and northwest Georgia.

"Member-driven and entrepreneurial, CORFAC International (Corporate Facility Advisors) is the only remaining global association of independent brokerage firms who wish to steadfastly maintain their independence and work collaboratively to serve their clients," officials said.

Last year, firms in the commercial real estate network collectively completed more than 10,000 lease and sale transactions valued in excess of $7.4 billion. CORFAC has consistently ranked among the top 25 global brands in commercial real estate (by The Lipsey Company) and as one of the top 25 largest commercial brokerage firms or associations in the U.S. (by National Real Estate Investors).

“McCormick & Company is excited and honored to join an organization of companies of the caliber that makes up CORFAC International and we look forward to developing new relationships with CORFAC members that will help us deliver better services to our clients as we grow our company," said Founder and President Gerald McCormick.

McCormick started the company in 2013 after dissolving a partnership that operated a commercial real estate services firm. His current company serves the office, retail, mixed use and industrial property markets in the region, and also has a property management business unit. Peter Avisto is vice president of the company, which also includes Sally Bacon, Oscar Brock, Kelly Brown, Ben Garrison and Zach Roberts.

"With almost two decades’ experience in commercial real estate in Chattanooga, Gerald McCormick has been fortunate enough to bear witness to as well as play an integral part in the downtown Chattanooga’s amazing renaissance. He began his real estate career with industrial property appraisals at the Hamilton County Assessor of Property’s office where he familiarized himself with the legal and governmental facets of the real estate industry. He moved to a position as real estate development coordinator with a major outdoor advertising company, which nurtured his search and siting talents, and spent twelve years as a commercial real estate broker before forming his own company in 2009.

"Civic as well as business minded, McCormick serves as the (Republican) Majority leader in the Tennessee State House of Representatives (District 26), and is a member of the State Capitol Commission.  He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Chattanooga Convention & Visitors Bureau. He is a U.S. Army veteran of the First Gulf War and a graduate of the University of Tennessee," officials said.

The new CORFAC affiliate joins two other CORFAC firms in Tennessee:  Chas. Hawkins Co. /CORFAC International in Nashville and Crump Commercial/CORFAC International in Memphis.

CORFAC International is an invitation-only association of like-minded companies. Bill Hawkins, SIOR and a principal with Chas. Hawkins Co./CORFAC International, along with Mark Bingman, MRC and broker with Rector Phillips Morse/CORFAC International in Little Rock, Ar, interviewed McCormick and vetted his company’s application before CORFAC’s executive committee unanimously voted in favor of McCormick & Company’s affiliation.

McCormick & Company/CORFAC International is located in the Volunteer Building at 832 Georgia Avenue, Ste. 450. Learn more at www.mccormickcre.com or call 423-602-9800.
