he Chattanooga Symphony and Opera and the CSO Youth Orchestras will present a unique event, featuring not only two of the youth orchestras in concert (Symphony and Philharmonic), but also the CSO Orchestra and the CSOYO Symphony combined.

This event will provide CSOYO students a chance to learn more about their craft by working alongside the CSO musicians on classical masterworks by popular composers such as Rimsky-Korsakov, Sibelius, and Saint-Saens. Featured in the program are the two winners of the 2014 CSOYO Concerto Competition, Roger and Nacor Lantigua.

Finlandia and Capriccio espagnol are two of the most well-known symphonic compositions, played by professional orchestras and youth orchestras alike.  Finlandia is the most well-known composition by a Finnish composer and has become a kind of national hymn for that country.  Capriccio espagnol is a virtuoso tour de force for several soloists in the orchestra.  Although written by the masterful Russian composer, Rimsky-Korsakov, it evokes the spirit of Spain with its cadenzas and rhythms.

Admission is a “pay what you can” format with a minimum of $1 per person and a $10 per person suggested price. No advance tickets are required and payment is made at the door. Doors open at 2 p.m. and the concert is at 3 p.m. Call 267-9011 for more information.
