Trio Charged In Robbery, Assault On Broad Street

Three people are facing charges for a robbery and assault on Broad Street.

Arrested were Holly Michelle Beeby, 32, of 2187 E. 37th St.; James Dewayne Moore, 26, of 383 Cherwood Lane and Lee Davenport Saunders, 27, of 727 E. 11th St.

Matthew Adams said he was walking south on Broad Street when he was approached by two males and a female, who began begging him for money.

He said after he continuously told them no he turned to walk away. Then one of the trio shoved him to the ground and began hitting and kicking him. While the female stepped on his head, the two males took his backpack and other items.

The three then fled.

The victim called police from the Read House, and a BOLO of the suspects' descriptions was given to responding officers.

Ms. Beeby was stopped at the corner of MLK Boulevard and Houston Street. Police said she matched the description given by the victim.

Moore and Saunders were stopped at 700 Douglas St.

The victim said the items taken included a blue Nintendo DS, a Kindle Fire, a backpack and red Monster headphones.

The headphones and Kindle Fire were found in the pockets of Saunders, and the Nintendo DS was found on Moore.

The victim made positive identifications on all three.
