Chattanooga State’s Physical Therapist Assistant Club worked hard for several years to raise funds during spring and fall festival events. Club members have nominated and voted on various charities to support.

The following three charities were chosen to receive $500 each: The Jordan Thomas Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; and Sports, Arts And Recreation of Chattanooga. Janet Jobe, executive director of the Jordan Thomas Foundation, met with PTA students on the first day of classes to accept a $500 check from the club.

In addition to donating money, the club is involved in community service activities. For the past year they have participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Chattanooga Food Bank food drive, Coats for Kids, Down Syndrome Buddy Walk, Wheelchair Basketball, the Adaptive Cycling program, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and attended regular monthly meetings of the Chattanooga District Tennessee Physical Therapy Association meetings.

Outgoing officers who were the ones primarily responsible for coordinating events were Craig Tilton, Kendall German, Ashley Olson and Lori Gesell. Newly elected officers include Emily Turnbill, president; Josh Guthrie, vice president; Tiffany Greene, treasurer; and Abbie Hicks, secretary.
