Lee University students, faculty, and staff will soon come together for spring Convocation, a series of six chapel services occurring over four days. The services will begin Sunday with a message from Lee President Dr. Paul Conn and will conclude Thursday, Feb. 12.
“I look forward to Convocation every semester,” said Dr. Jimmy Harper, campus pastor at Lee. “A college lifestyle can sometimes grow hectic. Constant pressures often become overwhelming. This is always a great time to focus on our relationship with God and to clear some of the clutter in our lives.”
Dr. Mark Walker, senior pastor of Mount Paran North in Marietta, Ga., will speak at Monday evening’s service. Dr. Walker began his full-time ministry in 1984 and has served as the senior pastor at Mount Paran since 1992. He also serves on the Lee University Board of Directors. Dr. Walker earned his doctorate in organizational leadership from Regent University School for Leadership Studies and his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in counseling from Georgia State University.
On Tuesday night, Lee alum Jason Browning will bring the message. Mr. Browning is an associate pastor at Westmore Church of God in Cleveland. He has been in ministry since 2001 and has been with Westmore since 2007. He is a frequent speaker in the Lee chapel pulpit.
Dr. Charlie Weir, lead pastor and founder of Gateway Church in Franklin, Tenn., will conclude the Convocation services on Wednesday evening. Dr. Weir began Gateway Church in 2007 and has been involved in pastoral ministry for more than 25 years, many of which were spent at Mount Paran North. He earned his doctorate from Drew University, his master’s from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, and his bachelor’s from Lee University.
Weeknight convocation services begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center with overflow in the Dixon Center. Each service will host live worship led by Lee’s Chapel Praise Band.
Morning services to begin at 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday will feature worship led by campus ensembles. The Symphonic Band will be featured in the Conn Center on Tuesday morning while Voices of Lee will be in the Dixon Center. On Thursday morning, Kingdom Players will take the stage in the Conn Center, and Ladies of Lee will lead worship in the Dixon Center.
