2014 Counselor and Social Worker Luncheon
2014 Counselor and Social Worker Luncheon

Bethel Bible Village will host its eighth annual Hamilton County Counselor and Social Workers Luncheon on the Bethel campus Friday at noon.  Bethel will honor the more than 100 school counselors and social workers in the Hamilton County Schools. Rick Smith, school superintendent will also be present, along with several of the Central office management team. "This is the only community based recognition for these dedicated youth worker professionals," organizers said.

The school counselors and social workers reach 43,000 students attending 79 public schools in the Hamilton County school system.

These employees work on the front lines with teachers, students, and their families and provide counseling, pupil services and mentoring services. These professionals work with the students, their families and community agencies to ensure that at-risk students have the needed resources to be successful at school and ultimately graduate from high school.

“School Counselors and Social Workers provide critical care for Hamilton County students,” said Chuck Baker,  executive director.  “Bethel is proud to honor these leaders who care for our children.”

The luncheon’s featured speaker will be Pastor Joe Novenson of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church. Pastor Novenson came to serve as senior pastor at LMPC in 1996. He received his bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication from Rider College in 1974 and his Master of Divinity in 1978 from Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. Prior to coming to LMPC, Pastor Novenson served churches in Lexington, SC and Augusta, Ga. In addition to his role at LMPC, he serves on the board of Covenant Theological Seminary and spends much time speaking and sharing around the country.

"Bethel Bible Village partners with these school professionals to ensure students and their families in crisis have access to the resources they need. These critical staff members work closely with students and parents to help bring resolution to issues that cannot be handled in the classroom.  For the last 61 years, Bethel Bible Village has provided safe, nurturing and Christ-centered homes for children of families in crisis.  By God's grace and through the generous support of many friends, Bethel continues to build Christ-centered lives one child at a time," officials said.
