Dorris Alvin Stanfield, 96, died on February 21, 2015.
He was a member of Apison United Methodist Church, a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater, member of American Legion Post 40 and retired from DuPont after 32 years of service. Alvin was a fine athlete having played fast pitch softball on the DuPont team. He won the Lafayette Chicken Dinner Tournament five times, he attended the National Pub Links three times, he shot his age or better over 1,450 times. Alvin was a golf course panelist for Golf Digest top 100 courses; he was inducted into the Old Timers Hall of Fame. In later years, he enjoyed playing at Moccasin Bend with the DuPont League. Alvin enjoyed taking cruises with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Allen and Daisy Ann Stanfield, his first wife in 1988, Fana Woodlee Stanfield, step-daughter, Betsy Todd Vines and step-son, Percy E.(Chip) Todd Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stanfield, daughter, Linda (David) Pennebaker of Chattanooga, step-son, Jim (Ann) Todd of Chattanooga, step-daughter, Teresa Todd of Seattle, WA, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Apison United Methodist Church at the intersection of East Brainerd Road and Bill Jones Road with Pastor Debbie Stokes officiating. The interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the funeral home and from noon on Wednesday until service time at the church.
