Three vehicles were involved in the incident - an 18 wheeler, a box-type truck, and a Chevy SUV. There were reports that the SUV may have rolled a number of times.
When EMS crews arrived they found two people injured in the SUV.
An adult male driver was treated and transported by ambulance to Erlanger Hospital. The passenger was an adult female. The paramedic in charge determined that her injuries would require transport to a level one trauma center. Air medical was requested to respond. Air Evac from the McMinn County Air Base responded and landed on the interstate. The patient was loaded onto the helicopter and flown to Erlanger.
The drivers of the trucks were not transported.
