During the Cleveland City Council's Monday meeting, a resolution was passed in support of the Bradley County Ambulance Service.

Previously, the city had discussed forming its own ambulance service through the Cleveland Fire Department. For now, however, the council decided to continue supporting the county-wide service.

Still, Councilman Richard Banks noted, "Fifty-seven percent of the money that goes into the county general fund from property taxes comes from property within the city of Cleveland."

He said, "They're paying 57 percent of what you need to make your budget balance."

During the meeting, the formation of a committee to discuss the Taylor Springs area was announced. Councilman Banks was voted to be the chairman.

In his report from his district, Councilman Banks also announced that the Home Loan Center was opening downtown. He said he supported the addition of another privately owned business.

Another resolution was passed authorizing the mayor to apply for a home grant of up to $500,000 for low income neighborhoods in Cleveland.

It was also announced that the city clerk's office will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday for property tax collections.
