Chattanooga Gets 8 Inches Of Snow; Some Schools Close Friday

Snow began falling in Chattanooga late Wednesday afternoon, and six inches had piled up downtown by 9 p.m. The snow continued for several more hours before tapering off with an accumulation of around eight inches. Temperatures were due to reach 40 degrees on Thursday afternoon.

Cleveland and Bradley County Schools will be closed on Friday.

The Nightside Pachyderm Club meeting has been cancelled for Thursday night.

All Chattanooga YMCAs are closed Thursday.

Afternoon City Court will not meet.

Hamilton County Circuit, Criminal, Chancery and General Sessions Courts will be closed Thursday along with the clerk offices. There will be no cases heard Thursday morning in Chattanooga City Court. Those cases will be passed one week to March 5.

Hamilton County Government Offices are open Thursday.

Hamilton County Clerk's office is closed. Tag renewal orders are received at www.countyclerkanytime.comQuestions answered and forms obtained by emailing CountyClerk@HamiltonTN.gov 

All City of Chattanooga government offices will be closed Thursday. This includes the Downtown Public Library and branches. 

 

Public Works road clearing crews, public safety personnel, 311 operators, and other essential personnel will work as scheduledNonessential personnel should not report to work.

The downtown office of BB&T Huffaker Insurance will be closed Thursday. A four-hour delay was first considered, but it was decided to close for the day.

The Chattanooga Chamber’s International Business Council had planned its first International Job Fair at the INCubator on Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m., but it has been cancelled. The rescheduled date and time will be announced soon.

Enterprise South Nature Park is closed. ESNP Mountain bike trails are closed until conditions improve.

 

Cleveland City government offices will open on a 2-hour delayed schedule at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Whitfield County non-emergency/non-essential government offices will be closed Thursday: All Fire, 911, Public Works, Sheriff, and Correctional Center personnel are considered essential.

The Chattanooga Cardiac Symposium, scheduled for Thursday at The Colonnade in Catoosa County has been cancelled. A rescheduled date will be posted at a later time.


Covenant Allergy and Asthma Care will be closed Thursday. This includes the office and the allergy shot center. It will reopen Friday, at 8 a.m. weather permitting.

Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority announced that the Old Dixie Highway Landfill and all four Convenience Center (transfer station) sites in Whitfield county will be closed Thursday.

Home Solutions is closed.

The School Counselor and Social Worker Recognition Luncheon sponsored by Bethel Bible Village scheduled for Friday has been cancelled.

Urban League's Credit Repair Workshop scheduled for Thursday from 11:30 a.m-1 p.m.has been cancelled due to the weather.  

All Walker County Government offices will be closed Thursday.

Walker Transit will be closed Thursday.
