Byers, Virginia Maxine (Dayton)

Virginia Maxine Byers, 88, of Dayton, TN, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at her home in Dayton.

She was born May 24, 1926 in Ashland, KY to the late David Arthur and Carrie (Owsley) Fannin; and was also preceded in death by her husband; her son, David Raymond Horton; sister, May Hall; and brothers, Harry Fannin and Fred Fannin.

Virginia worked at Douglas Air Craft as a riveter. She was a pastor’s wife, a Sunday school superintendent and she attended The Grove in Dayton.

She is survived by her son, John Edmond Thomas of Florida; daughter, Mary Sugdon of Dayton; her sister, Marge (Bill) Price of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Mike Hamilton, John O’Berry, Nathan Thomas, Ryan Sugden, Terri Hamilton, Anna Prater and Sandra Dunn; 22 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be announcing a memorial service at a later date.

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton.
