UTC Holds ElderScholars Meeting Feb. 10

  • Wednesday, February 4, 2015

The February 2015 ElderScholars meeting will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10 in Room 209 of the new University Library.  After an introduction by members of the Library Staff in that room, we will have self-guided tours.  We can get printed maps at the Circulation Desk. The map will have informational stop signs on it. You can also get an audio version with headphones and listen to it as a guided tour, much as you would in a museum. Also, there is a YouTube link if some of you want to play it on your own IPad or Smartphone. Either way, we can move at your own pace, or see just the area you are interested in, and be able to stop whenever you get tired. There is also a Starbucks there in case you need some caffeine to get through the whole library.

It is suggested that you come in the Library entrance at the corner of Douglas and Vine Street.  You can either walk up the steps or you can walk around to the right side and tucked back into the wall is an elevator that will take you up 1 flight to the top of the steps. Then walk around the right side to the doors that actually take you into the 1st floor of the library. There are inside elevators across from the circulation desk, and you need to take one of those to the second floor. When the elevator door opens, walk straight ahead. Room 209 will be on your right, just past the Library Administration Office.

If you walk up from the UC side of the building, a flight of stairs will bring you to the Chamberlain Field entrance. You will walk into the library on the 1st floor, right by the Circulation Desk. Just go past the Circulation desk to get to the inside elevators and go up to the 2nd floor.

Parking is free only in Lot 7 which is at Douglas and East Fifth Street near the Maclellan Gym, or across East Fifth Street at the Fifth Street Parking Garage (the high rise parking garage). Place this announcement letter on your dashboard indicating that you are are attending the ElderScholar Meeting.  If you park in the high rise, just tell the attendant that you are attending the ElderScholar meeting.  If you have any difficulty with ticketing, please call Diane Reed in the Provost’s Office in Hooper Hall at 423-425-4303.
