Van Buren County Sweeps 3-A Basketball Titles

Boyd-Buchanan Girls, Arts & Sciences Boys Finish Second

Van Buren County swept the Region 3-A girls’ and boys’ basketball finals Saturday night at South Pittsburg High School.


The District 6 champions defeated the District 5 winners in both games, with the Van Buren County girls claiming a 57-49 victory over Boyd-Buchanan, and the Eagles defeating Arts & Sciences by a 51-49 margin.


Class A Miss Basketball finalist Lakelyn Bouldin led Van Buren with 29 points, while Caden Mills led the Eagles with 19 points, followed by Drew Roberts with 17.


Both region finalists advance to the Class A state sectionals, which will be held Monday for the girls’ teams and Tuesday for the boys’ round.

Art & Sciences will travel to face Region 4 champion Clay County, while Van Buren County will host runner-up Goodpasture.


In the girls’ sectionals, Boyd-Buchanan will be on the road against Clarkrange, and Van Buren County will host Pickett County.
