James Kennedy Copeny, 49, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on March 8, 2015 at Parkridge East Hospital.
James was born Dec. 7, 1965, in Chattanooga. He was fun, energetic and outgoing. No one will ever forget his laugh and smile that give such joy to those who knew him.
James enjoyed spending time with his family and caring for his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie James Copeny and Willie Mae Manson; sister, Joyce Ann Copeny and brother, Oscar Manson.
Survivors include his children, James K. Copeny, Jr., Kamani Copeny, Kennedy Copeny, Jamisha Copeny, LaDedrick Lane, LaDaniel Lane, Glenisha Lane, LaDarrius Lane and LaDarean Lane; sisters, Janie Mae Jones, Brenda (Lovell) Johnson and Bernice (Tom) Roberson, of Chattanooga; brothers, Jerry (Sonia) Copeny, Clenton Mason, Dennis Copeny, Amos Copeny of Chattanooga, and Earl Fausset of Dallas, TX; mother of his children, Michelle Lane.
Funeral services will be held on March 14, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Alfred Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, March 13, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
