Lee Basketball Teams Set To Play In NCCAA Tournament

  • Sunday, March 15, 2015
The Lee men and women basketball teams drew the No. 1 seeds for the NCCAA National Championships which are scheduled to get underway on Wednesday morning on the campus of Grace College (Winona Lake, Ind.).

LADY FLAMES FACE SAGU
Coach Marty Rowe and his Lady Flames placed second in last year's tournament and will be pitted against (No.8 seed) Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Waxahachie, Texas) when they tip off on Wednesday at 12 noon.

The eight-team field (in order of seeds) also includes Southwestern Christian University (Okla.), Bethesda University (Calif.), Emmanuel College (Ga.), University of Northwestern (Minn.), host Grace College and Southern Wesleyan University (S.C.).

THE FLAMES DRAW CROWLEY'S RIDGE COLLEGE
On paper it appears the Lee men and coach Tommy Brown drew the tournament dark horse in Crowley's Ridge College (Paragould, Ark.).
Lee's opponent will bring a 23-6 record into the tourney and lost to Dallas Baptist in its NCCAA Central Region. The Pioneers have faced a rugged schedule also losing to UT-Martin, University of New Orleans and Freed-Hardeman University.

The Flames will rise early to challenge the Pioneers. The contest is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. tipoff. Other teams vying for the championship title includes (in order of seeding) Emmanuel University (Ga.), host Grace College, Colorado Christian University, Cincinnati Baptist, Dallas Baptist and Simpson University (Calif.).
