James Earl Shoulders, Sr., 77, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, March 19, 2015 in a local hospital.

He retired from Combustion Engineering.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Shoulders; parents, Herbert and Catherine Shoulders; siblings, Lucille Collier, Mildred Washington, Robert Shoulders, Catherine Williams, Celestine Green, and Larry Shoulders. 

Survivors include one son, James Earl (Monica) Shoulders, Jr. of Glen Allen, VA; daughters, Valeria Brown of Chattanooga, Venitta Hill of Henrico, VA, Catherine (Kenneth) Cudjoe of Norcross, GA, and Regina Shoulders of Chattanooga; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Hattie) Shoulders of Lafayette, GA, and Herbert Shoulders of Chattanooga; sisters, Louise Sanderfer, Eliza Murray both of Chattanooga, Rebecca (Othel) Washington of Harvest, AL, and Christine (Tom) Williams of Athens, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; Weaver In-laws; and many friends.

Visitation is on Friday, March 20, from 5:30-8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Funeral service will be on Saturday, March 21, at 2:30 p.m. in the Taylor Funeral Home chapel, at 3417 Wilcox Boulevard. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
