Wyatt, Hypercolor, UnLeashed, Elenown And Cowen Are Talent Playing At Barking Legs This Week

  • Monday, March 2, 2015
"This week brings an extraordinary range of performance to the theater, and that diversity is perhaps what best characterizes our goal as a venue," officials at Barking Legs said.

Wednesday Night Jazz in the Lounge will continue this week with the Alan Wyatt Quartet featuring Shawn Perkinson. "Alan is one of the finest saxophonists you'll hear anywhere, and Shawn is the superb guitarist fondly remembered by many for his work with Kings of the Killer Fish," organizers said.  No cover, beer at the bar, and good music for all ages.

On Thursday night, they will feature Hypercolor, a powerhouse jazz/rock/much more trio visiting from NYC.
"Featuring virtuosi at guitar, bass and drums, Hypercolor will be a major blast. They will present seriously controlled energy," officials said.  Buffalo Princess will open the show, which is co-sponsored by the Shaking Ray Levi Society.

On Friday, poet/performer/host-with-the-most Marcus Ellsworth will be presenting UnLeashed, with proceeds benefiting Chattanooga Cares. "Featuring a dynamic assortment of some of the best performing artists from around Chattanooga, UnLeashed promises to deliver a unique assortment of uncensored, unfettered entertainment. If you know Mr. Ellsworth, no more need be said," officials said.

On Saturday, ArtFRONT is back with Elenowen. Here's what Robin Merritt has to say, "The music of Elenowen straddles decades by bridging today’s folk rock troubadours with the lo-fi buzzing arrangements of the 70s. Their distinctive combination of musical precision and emotional abandon bolsters a collection that alternates between dense, full-bodied rockers and mercurial guitar melodies."

"We're delighted to announce that John Cowan has been able to reschedule with us in short order, and he'll be at the Legs for a Sunday afternoon show on March 8. Great to have 'The Voice' and his superb band back in action," officials said.

Also in March will be the return of the John Cowan Band, Colonel Bruce Hampton, the Andy Statman Trio with Tim O'Brien, Matthew Shipp & Michael Bisio, and Bill Orcutt.  And they just announced the booking of Blue Highway in April.
