The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis Chapter # 900 held its monthly meeting on Feb. 14, at the Kinser Church of God.
The Chapter President, Marilyn Kinne called the meeting to order. The Ritual was led by Ashley Anderson. Members recited the pledge to the Christian flag, United States flag, the Tennessee flag, and the Confederate flag. The Star Spangled Banner, Tennessee Waltz, and Dixie was led by Anita Green. Minutes of the previous meeting was read by Debbie Riggs/Secretary. Treasurer’s report was presented by Peggy Morrison. Teresa Silvers/Historian-Librarian reported that approximately $5,000 worth of coupons collected by UDC members have been sent to soldiers families stationed in Japan. Members welcomed the two new Honorary Associate members, Shawn Pritchett, and Kevin Kinne.
Jo Hill presented a demonstration on the proper wearing of UDC insignia pins. Members of the Chapter brought items to be auctioned. Lisa Pritchett served as the Auctioneer. Members bidded on the items, and left with some great bargains.
The UDC members continue the important mission of honoring, protecting, and preserving their Confederate heritage to ensure that the noble sacrifices made by their ancestors during the War Between the States are not forgotton.
All donations received from the auction will be used by the Chapter in their memorial, historical, educational, benevolent, and patriotic activities.
