Donations To Habitat's ReStore Help Build Homes

  • Friday, March 20, 2015

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area is encouraging the public to carry out spring cleaning around their homes identifying unwanted and gently used household items and furniture they would like to donate to Habitat’s ReStore.

“Donations to the ReStore are important to Habitat,” said Marty Mauldin, Habitat’s ReStore operations manager. “Proceeds from the sale of donations help us expand affordable homeownership opportunities for working families in Greater Chattanooga. Through Habitat for Humanity’s program, qualified families help build their new homes and purchase with a zero-interest mortgage.”

Some suggested items to donate to the Restore include: cabinets, working appliances, furniture (indoor and outdoor), housewares and home decor items, building materials, flooring and new carpet, tools and garden equipment.

Donations are accepted Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. at Habitat’s ReStore at 1150 E. 14th St.  The ReStore offers a complimentary pick up service for items too large to fit in a car or truck.  To schedule a pick up or to learn more about Habitat’s ReStore, call 634-1004  or visit restorechattanooga.com.
