Sally Roberts
Sally Hunt Roberts, 77, died peacefully in Oklahoma City on March 14, 2015 in the presence of her family.
Sally was born to the late Robert and Carolyn Hunt, February 10, 1938, in Chattanooga. She grew up on Lookout Mountain and graduated from Girls Preparatory School in 1956. She excelled in school and athletics. In 1960, Sally graduated with a degree in Education from the University of Florida where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. While living in Ada, OK, she earned a master’s degree from East Central University.
Sally was a beloved teacher and role model for over 30 years to many students in Florida, Georgia and Oklahoma. She adored children and was passionate about helping each child succeed. Every student was special to “Mrs. Roberts”. She was voted Teacher of the Year by the children and faculty of Ardmore Middle School. Sally was an unselfish friend to everyone she met, and a truly devoted mother to her three children.
Sally loved the Lord Jesus Christ and read her Bible daily. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ardmore, OK where she taught children’s Sunday school and vacation bible school. The Fellowship Class was a very important part of her life, and is where Sally developed life-long friendships. After moving to Ada, Oklahoma 1982, she became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ada.
Sally is survived by her sister, Amy Hunt, of Lookout Mountain, and her brother, Rob Hunt and his wife Jane, of Bastrop, TX; by her children and spouses, Ricky and Donna Roberts, of Lone Grove, OK; Jimmy Roberts and close friend, Deloris Ray, of Oklahoma City; Geoffrey and Carolyn Deen of Flower Mound, TX; five grandchildren, Sarah and Chance Roberts; Madison, Trevor and Triston Deen; and nephews John and Daniel Hunt.
