The Lumbar Five will play at the Meeting House, 3912 Dayton Blvd. in Red Bank on Saturday from 7-10 p.m. It is an all-ages, non-smoking show with a five dollar cover charge, and children under 10 are free.
The Lumbar Five is a Chattanooga-based, eclectic group of veteran groove rockers led by singer/songwriter/musician Kathy Veazey. The band, including John Rawlston, Nick Honerkamp, Kofi Mawuko and Jo Whitaker, has been around since 2001, releasing two albums of original music("Ask Your Doctor If It's Right For You" in 2004 and "Second Opinion" in 2010).
In most of 2014, the Lumbar Five was sidelined as a couple of members dealt with a couple of injuries.
The event will be the first public show for the band in over a year. "Kathy and Kofi both recently celebrated milestone birthdays, and there is much to celebrate as the Lumbar Five returns to action," organizers said.
The Meeting House, affiliated with the Camp House, is a new coffeehouse/cafe/venue in the heart of Red Bank at the intersection of Dayton Blvd. and Morrison Springs Road, located across the street from the Bi-Lo. Like the Camp House, they have taken an old building with character and transformed it into a restaurant that is also a music venue with "great acoustics and sightlines, an intimate room with room to move around," officials said.
