Battling in-state foe Trevecca Nazarene the Lee softball team earned a doubleheader split with the Trojans on Wednesday evening at Butler Field taking game one, 4-3 while dropping game two by a 8-4 margin.

The Lady Flames move to 19-12 on the season and will travel down to Pensacola for a three-game weekend set with Gulf South Conference rival West Florida. Trevecca is now 11-5 on the year.

GAME ONE - LU 4, TNU 3
Lee scored in their final at-bat to win game one after surrendering a three-run lead to Trevecca in the sixth inning.

Senior Dominique Hannah reached on an error allowing the Lady Flames to earn their 19th victory of the season.  Hannah pushed the lead to three with a solo bomb to right in the third inning.

Leigh Beatenbough started in the circle for the Lady Flames and worked five innings. She gave up two runs on four hits for the no-decision. Angie Hughes came on in relief and tossed the final two innings allowing one run on one hit to earn her ninth victory of the season. The junior walked two and struck out four.

Haley Fagan (6-2) went the distance for the Trojans. Fagan settled in after allowing three runs early allowing her team back in the contest. She gave up four runs (three earned), walked four and had four punch outs.

Speedster Amanda Lynn got the Flames on the board when she stole home in the first inning. Nia Ceasar followed with an RBI single to center to put the home team up 2-0 after one.
Rachel Polacek recorded her first triple of the season and clean-up hitter Kaylie Drew doubled to round out the five-hit attack for Lee.

Shelby Andrews got the Trojans on the board with a solo homer in the fifth. Mackenzie Leding followed with a solo shot of her own in the sixth and Alex Richardson followed with a run-producing single.

GAME TWO – LU 4, TNU 8
Trevecca made the most of a Lee error in the third inning, scoring six times with two outs to avoid the sweep in Wednesday’s night cap.

Once again it was the speed of Lynn striking quickly as she scored on a wild pitch to put the Lady Flames briefly ahead, 1-0.

Hughes (9-5) allowed six runs, all of which were unearned, in the third as the Trojans pounded out four hits and benefited from two walks, a hit-by-pitch and two errors.

The Lady Flames would answer in the bottom of the frame with three runs of their own. Beatenbough walked with the bases loaded, Brooke Bailey provided a pinch-hit sacrifice fly and Lexie Dean singled in a run.

After the Trojan’s starter Kelsey Kemp struggled to get out of the third, Lindsey Stephens (3-3) entered allowing just one run on four hits over five innings of work.

Brianna Eichbaum came on relief for the Lady Flames and yielded two runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Drew paced the Lee offense with a single and a double to go along with two walks. Lynn was hitless in the contest but drew three walks.
