Two freshmen hit home runs to power Ooltewah softball past East Hamilton, 7-0, on Thursday.
Mabry Carpenter was 2-3 with one RBI on a solo home run and two runs scored, while Kayla Boseman was 3-5 with three RBIs, including a two-run homer in the fourth inning, and two runs scored.
Boseman also shined on the mound, holding East Hamilton to just one hit. She struck out seven and walked none in seven innings of work.
Catcher Summer Williams was 3-4 with an RBI, and left fielder Cameron Baltimore was 2-4 with a run batted in.
Ooltewah improves to 7-1 and will play this weekend at the Oak Ridge Tournament.
Ooltewah faces Scott County and Loudon on Friday and Knox Carter and Sullivan Central on Saturday.
