14 Convenience Stores Undergo Compliance Checks; 6 Cited For Selling Alcohol To Under Aged Buyers

In anticipation of spring break, the Chattanooga Police Department, in partnership with the Hamilton County Coalition, conducted compliance checks at 14 local convenience stores to ensure no underage Chattanoogans were able to illegally purchase alcohol. Out of the 14 stores checked, an under aged buyer was able to purchase beer from six locations.

The following businesses sold to the under aged buyer:

1.      Big K at 909 Dodson Ave.

2.      Ace Food Market at 2100 E. Main Street

3.      Big Poppa’s Quick Stop at 4107 Dodds Ave.

4.      Nine Brothers at 101 W. 38th Street

5.      Southside Market at 202 W. 38th Street

6.      Kangaroo Express at 3729 Tennessee Avenue

The following businesses did not sell to the under aged buyer:

1.      C&S Market at 1520 Dodson Ave.

2.      Smoke 1 at 2101 McCallie Ave.

3.      Kankus Express at 2115 Dodds Ave.

4.      Speed Mart at 3100 Dodds Ave.

5.      Big Daddy’s at 3901 Dodds Ave.

6.      Sunshine Food Mart at 4510 Rossville Ave.

7.      Mapco Express located at 100 W. 20th Street

8.      Kankus Market located at 1910 Market Street

The locations found to be in violation were cited to appear before the Chattanooga Beer Board on April 16, at 9 a.m.
