Kay White
Kay White, age 94, of Hixson, died on Monday, March 02, 2015.
Kay was born July 14, 1920, in Whitwell, TN, to the late Roy and Icey Beulah Hudson White. He served our country in the U.S. Army Motor Pool, serving in France during World War II on Normandy Beach. Kay was the oldest member of Cedar Creek Presbyterian Church in Whitwell and currently a member of Falling Water Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was an active member of New Hope Masonic Lodge for 50 years where he served as Past Grand Master three times.
Kay was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn Grayson White; a grandson, Kevin White; siblings, Ola Lee Turner, Beulah Mae Hackworth, David White, Burton White, Kitty Peruso and Joel White.
He is survived by his children, Larry Kay White and wife, Darrelynn, Sevierville, TN and Diane White Hunley and husband, John, Fairview, NC; grandchildren, Jason White, Brentwood, TN, Zachary White, Knoxville, TN, Rick Hunley, Asheville, NC and Liza Lane, Iva, SC; four great-granddaughters and four great grandsons; sister, Nola Lee Layne; dear friend and caregiver, Betty Sprayberry; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service will follow at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Jim Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kay’s name to Caris Hospice, 5959 Shallowford Road, Suite 551, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
